I've lived in Lynchburg for about 10 years now (including my time at Liberty University). It doesn't snow much and when it does it's gone in a few hours. So, the fact that it snowed all day and stayed put was more like my home state of Connecticut than Virginia! I've been dying to shoot in the snow, so, obviously I couldn't pass this up and it was awesome! The snow acted like a blank canvas and a reflector at the same time!
My sister, Alex, put out the word that we needed a willing victim, "cough" model I mean! Fellow student and Connecticut native, Jacqueline Albert, enthusiastically volunteered! Her sister, Joanna Albert, is a photographer based out of Colorado and has more than adequately trained Jackie for being in front of a camera! Our session was a sister affair too! Alex, assisted the
majority of the time and my other sister, Brittany, jumped in at the end.
Thanks again to Jackie and my sisters! Hope you love the images as much as I do!

BRIDALS | Kari at Bedford Columns
I have to give my sister a little shout out! She has met Kari many times and has been a model for me several times as well - including a recent impromptu shoot (check that out here or other images on my Facebook page if you like)! She assisted me that day - carrying lens', fluffing the dress, holding the reflector etc. Alex is able to anticipate the way that I guide Kari in posing and she's a huge help!
The day was cold and a little bit cloudy so we took advantage of the decor inside for the most part. We braved the blustery wind for a little bit to capture some images out of doors and we managed to catch a little sunlight. So, needless to say after this session I am extremely excited to photograph their wedding March 20th!
Thanks again to The Bedford Columns and I hope you all enjoy the images of Kari!

FAMILIES | Long Family Maternity Session
Arriving early for my session last Saturday, I pulled into the bottom drive of the Liberty University Equestrian Center. It had been cold earlier this week and my hopes for a comfortable sunny day were met. I admired the sunlight as it warmed the backs of horses in the pasture and pooled around the old wooden buildings. I knew the setting would be perfect to capture the love, warmth, and togetherness of the Long Family!
I was introduced to Randy and his wife, April, about five years ago through my husband's work at Liberty University. Over the years I have seen their family grow! This is Randy and April's second child, a baby brother for 1 and 1/2 year old daughter Zahala, whose arrival is only two weeks away. Photographing little ones can be challenging but Zaya was a peach! She kept busy with one of my chalkboards while I took some images of mom and dad. You can see how much she loved it in a few of the pictures! The Long's were just a joy to work with!
Randy and April are so excited for this little boy, Uzziah, to join their clan! I can't wait to meet him either!

PORTRAITS | Alexandra
The first set of images were taken in the woods behind our house. I've been eying those woods for some time since the sun goes down perfectly right through them. Pepper went with us and even got in on a few of the pictures. The images in the second outfit - ADORE! I just threw that tulle in the car when we drove up the road and it was windy enough for the fabric to catch a little bit. In my opinion, they came out beautifully!

PERSONAL | Valentine's Day 2013
Yes - I know it's almost exactly one month since Valentine's Day of this year but I really wanted to share with you all my very eventful day!
I awoke on Valentine's Day to a wonderful card from my husband waiting for me as I got ready for work. I always look forward to his cards. He brought me notes and cards all through our dating and engagement. My husband is the most thoughtful man I know! I am truly blessed to have married him! I honestly can't imagine and sometimes remember life without him. Plus, He knows the way to my heart - Hershey's chocolate! I love you honey!
