I knew that two of my sister's would be eating dinner with us this year for St. Patrick's Day so I decided to make corned beef and cabbage for the first time. My mom used to make it when we were growing up. And no, I am not Irish, I just really like corned beef and cabbage!
You may be thinking that milk looks green - it is! Our milk was always green on St. Patrick's Day and my mom told us the leprechauns had come :-)! |
I got a little carried away with food coloring - I made green apple pie too! |
My family planned to come for the weekend of Easter and I was so excited! My mom and grandma came from Connecticut and my dad drove up from North Carolina! I'm Italian and holidays mean lots of family and lots of food! Since two of my sister's are engaged there is a lot of wedding planning going on! My mom, sisters', grandma and I went to Church Street Bridal and found a dress for my mom for one of the upcoming weddings! Then, we stopped for lunch at Magnolia Foods where we found some more egg ornaments for my tree!
Sunday morning we attended the sunrise service at the church my husband and I have started going to, The Kirk. We came home and started prepping for our Easter dinner later that day. The weekend was crazy because of all the people visiting and to top it off the plumbing in most of the house basically stopped working! My husband, dad, and my sister's fiance all worked long and hard to get it fixed so we could use the kitchen sink again! Great job and thanks guys! In spite of all that dinner went off with out a hitch including a fun baking project for Easter!
Hope everyone had a Happy Easter and a wonderful month of March!
